Baritone Ukulele: Rogue

”Cheap Baritone Ukulele - Best Used as Prop for a Play”

If you are looking for a ukulele that is inexpensive and will get the job done, then the Rogue Baritone Ukulele may be just what you are looking for.

While guitar reviews will agree that a solid top instrument has the best tone, the white wood body of the Rogue provides a passable tonal quality for a baritone ukulele. While not the best quality, it will certainly do what you need it to if your expectations are low.

While a baritone uke is a larger instrument than its smaller soprano brethren, it is still a relatively small piece which can pose problems if you have large hands. However, its larger neck and wider frets make baritone models definitely easier to play than the smaller types. And the burnt orange finish makes the Rogue aesthetically intriguing, though the actual quality of the Rouge’s construction is a bit sketchy.

Definitely a factory-made instrument, this ukulele model tends to lose its tune rather quickly and can sound a bit mushy if you don’t replace the strings that it comes with. There is also the fact that you tend to get a bit of a buzzing sound in the frets. This can be remedied by replacing the bridge pins. But with all the changes you will need to make in order to make it sound good, you might be better off simply buying a better quality model altogether. For just $40 more you can get a Mahalo U-320B Deluxe Baritone Ukulele. While still not top of the line, the Mahalo will definitely hold its tune better and will give you a better run for your money.

However, if simply having a ukulele available to be played without spending a lot of money, then this is your instrument. It serves as a great prop for a play. Even if you are just looking to get the hang of playing the ukulele, then the Rogue Baritone Ukulele – priced at just ~$29 (including a Rouge gig bag) may be just what you need to get started on your latest stringed adventure.
