With a solid Sitka spruce top and a body made of solid Indian rosewood, this beauty not only has a lovely look; one reminiscent of the 15 series guitars of the 1940’s, but a tone that is richly rounded and warm enough to please even the most discriminating of musical connoisseurs.

On the downside, the D-15 does not lend itself well to heavy picking or strumming and can produce a bit of buzzing when played too aggressively. This fault that can be minimized by changing the weight of one’s guitar strings; but for gentle fingerstyle playing and light to medium strumming it works very well indeed. The Martin D15 compares well to the Martin D28, just not as attractive.

At <$ 1,000 the D-15 is not a cheap acoustic guitar, but it is worth the price if one is looking for a good-quality left-handed guitar that will give years of dependable service.
