Martin Acoustic Guitars: D41 Dreadnought

by Guitar Guru
(play-acoustic-guitar.com)

”Beautiful, Large and Powerful”

The Martin D-41 Dreadnought Guitar is a fine example of why Martin is considered to have some of the best acoustic guitars for sale. Not only does the D-41 stand up to Martin’s reputation for superior craftsmanship, but the tone is so clear and deep that it will leave your jaw on the floor.

Was it mentioned that this is also one fine-looking guitar? With solid rosewood sides and two-piece back (which gives the back a uniquely appealing look), this guitar is not lacking in detail. Interestingly, its detail work is so subtle it may not register until you go to compare it with other guitars, at which point its full binding and abalone inlays in the rosette and fretboard will stand out like a rose in a field of dandelions.

Now it is built on a dreadnought body, and younger guitar players with slight builds may be challenged trying to handle this large of a guitar. And while its notes are clear when picked out individually, fingerstyle players may find that the tone goes a bit ‘mushy’ without the use of a pick.

Comparing the Martin D-28 to the Martin D-41? One might find that while the Martin D-28 has a warm tone, it is still brighter than the D-41. The D-41 simply has more power and depth than the D-28.

If you can handle the reach, and need an awesome sounding guitar for flatpicking, then at <$3,800 (including the deluxe hardshell case) you’ll find the D-41 to be a guitar that will be an awesome addition to your collection.
