Seagull Guitars: Coastline S6 GT Dreadnought

by Guitar Guru
(play-acoustic-guitar.com)

”A Sound Worth Waiting For”

The Seagull Coastline S6 GT is a lovely instrument whose sunburst finish captures the eye but whose natural, earth-toned colors emphasize the natural beauty of wood. This piece, with a solid wood top and laminated wood sides and back, has a mellow, woody tone that projects itself amazingly well.

Part of the S6 GT’s deep, resonate tone comes from its dreadnought-shaped body which, being deeper than standard guitar bodies and wider across the top, may prove to be unmanageable by younger players or by those with slighter body-types. That said, it produces a resonate tone that can be heard over crowds and can cut through most any background noise.

In order to bring out the true tone of this instrument, you may need to make a few adjustments, such as replacing the saddle and bridge pins, preferably to bone or a similar substance that will provide the right tone. Then you will truly have an instrument with a sound worth waiting for.

saddles & pins & nuts NEW
by: Graham

Seagull guitars have 'Tusq' nuts and bridge-saddles. So do Taylor Guitars and many others. Purists go for bone. Ok. But to replace the Tusq parts with bone ones is expensive!!! And bone, being a natural substance, is not necessarily of uniform density. Tusq is engineered to the task. The change could cost hundreds. If you have that much coin, you could simply buy an axe that has bone bits as standard equipment.
