The Taylors are definitely a sound choice. There ARE others of greater or lesser cost, but it boils down to getting a GOOD instrument. The student is more likely to stick with it if the guitar sounds good. If interest is lost, a good guitar is more easily resold or traded than a cheapie... Buy the one that best fits the student....AND the wallet!!

Both the Taylor Swift and Baby Taylor guitars come in left-handed models. You can't go wrong with either model, as they are both quality instruments! My 8 year-old daughter plays a Taylor Swift and loves it - particularly the rosette pattern. "Looks do count" with children, and she is absolutely drawn to this guitar!
