Washburn Acoustic Guitars: WD15S Dreadnought

by Guitar Guru
(play-acoustic-guitar.com)

”Solid-Top Bargain”

The Washburn WD 15S acoustic guitar is the real deal! Made with a solid Alaskan Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides, the WD 15S does not make aesthetic pretenses. Rather, it jumps right to producing a deeply warm tone that will carry across the room even without amplification.

Built on a dreadnought body, the WD 15S is deeper of body and wider across the shoulders than other guitar styles, but the dreadnought body is preferred when it comes to producing a deep, sustaining sound. Washburn, already known for having good quality guitars online, does not disappoint with the WD 15S, which will be easy to play right out of the box.

If you wish to avoid the persistent buzz that comes from using this guitar for pick work, however, you may have to adjust the weight of your strings. But for fingerstyle playing and light to medium strumming, the WD 15S will, at just ~$269, provide a great sound at a low cost, a definite plus for those who are just getting started playing guitar.

fingerpickin' good!
by: Graham

This guitar is made to fingerpick. Note the lack of pick-guard. Anyone who flatpicks needs a different guitar. Upgrade the strings to medium gauge for superior tone.
