C9

Alternative Name: C9

C9 Guitar Chord

Online Music Theory

A ninth chord is a major chord with a 7th and a 9th. Specifically, the C9 formula is 1 3 5 b7 9, or notes C E G Bb D. The finger pattern of ninth chords remain the same regardless of which ninth you are playing. You only have to slide this finger pattern down the neck toward the body of the guitar one fret at a time to produce the next higher ninth chord.
