Cmin6 Guitar Chord

Alternative Names: C minor 6, Cmin6, Cm6, Am7/5-
C minor 6 guitar chord

Music Theory

The sixth note of the C minor scale is (A), so a Cmin6 chord will simply be the C minor triad (C, Eb, G) plus the sixth note (A). Said differently, Cmin6 is made up of intervals 1 b3 5 6, or notes C Eb G A.

An added tone chord is a triad with an extra "added" note, such as the added sixth. This family includes chords with an added second (ninth) or fourth (eleventh), or a combination of the three. These chords do not including intervening thirds, as in an "extended chord".

Extended chords are triads with notes extended or added, beyond the seventh. Ninth, eleventh, and thirteenth chords are extended chords.
