Takamine Guitars: G340SC Cutaway Dreadnought

by Guitar Guru
(play-acoustic-guitar.com)

“Flatpicker’s Pride”

The Takamine G340SC is an instrument that will make a flatpicker proud. If you want big sound with lots of power and a rich tone, the G340SC will serve you well. This is thanks to its large, dreadnought style body, solid spruce top and mahogany body.

Recommended as a excellent upgrade for an intermediate player, the G340SC provides great versatility for most any playing style, and it comes with a built-in tuner. Many players find this feature extremely helpful, as this model tends not to hold its tune as long as higher-priced models.

As far as looks go, the G340SC is a beauty, with its solid spruce top, mahogany sides, and a stylish abalone rosette. Its cutaway style gives you complete access to the upper fretboard, and while intermediate players will find it a decided improvement over most beginner’s models, the more advanced player may find that a number of adjustments need to be made to the nut, saddle and/or pins in order to bring out the instrument’s true richness of sound and help it to meet its potential as the flatpicker’s pride.
